IN DEPTH

California passed Assembly Bill 686 in 2018 to add requirements for affirmatively furthering fair housing to the state’s existing fair housing and civil rights legislation. The bill also amends the state’s land use and planning legislation to require jurisdictions to address these requirements in the housing element of their general plans.
